Why a Commercial Lock Change Is Often the Right Decision
Many business owners underestimate how quickly their physical security can become compromised. When a member of staff is dismissed, resigns, or simply loses their keys, every copy of that key — including any that were cut without your knowledge — poses a genuine risk. The only way to be certain a former keyholder can no longer enter your premises is to carry out a proper lock change, replacing the cylinder or the entire lock mechanism so that all previously issued keys become obsolete. The same logic applies after a break-in attempt, a lost master key, or when you take over a tenancy and have no idea how many keys the previous occupier had made.
Commercial locks also wear out. High-traffic doors on a busy Walthamstow retail unit may be opened and closed hundreds of times a day, and euro cylinders in particular can develop enough play to make them vulnerable to snapping — a technique burglars use to defeat standard cylinders in seconds. Upgrading to a TS007 3-star anti-snap cylinder, or switching to a higher-security multipoint locking system on a uPVC or composite door, dramatically raises the threshold for a forced entry and can also satisfy conditions set by your business insurer.
